My dog required a Caesarean. We were told that it would cost £2000. It was a Sunday. What choice did we have? The dog's breeder who has been through this many times said her vet in Norfolk charges £300 on a weekday and double for a Sunday. Even if you take in to account London weighting this is still unjustifiable. By choosing to take the dog home we saved £400. So the final bill was £1600. Medivet do a good job but the billing is outrageous.
Thank you for your review, we highly value all feedback from our clients so that we can continually improve our level of standards. We understand your concerns about costs, and hope the following will help to explain where the costs arose from. Our Medivet Hendon practice is an awarded "Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) 24 Hour hospital with emergency service clinic status. We have invested in state of the art equipment to provide a gold standard service for our patients, which brings us to the elite in private veterinary care. Being an RCVS accredited hospital, we have generous staffing levels at night and on weekends to give every patient the best possible around the clock emergency treatment and care. For this type of procedure, we routinely have at least six nurses and two vets on hand to assist in surgery and puppy revival, along with dealing with any possible complications which might arise including the use of a blood transfusion during surgery and incubators for the puppies. All of this means that the owners can be rest assured that their pet is going to receive the very best in care in any eventuality. This surgical procedure was performed by two surgeons, one of whom holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery and a General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. You will find practices, especially outside of London, that will charge less. However, we hope that our standard of care, expertise and facilities justify the costs. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss any aspects of this further.

I have always had excellent experiences at this vet surgery. Mr Leonard is fantastic, and I am always happy to take my (now elderly 17yr old) cat to him as I know he will be well looked after by the whole team. They are all always happy to answer questions and dont mind me phoning 20squillion times a day to find out how he is. Thank you.

I recently had my cat Shadow in as she was very poorly. During Shadow's stay the nurses were so attentive and always made me feel welcome in the hospital. I would like to express specific gratitude to Jessica the head nurse and Heidi for comforting me during Shadow's last journey. I will never forget you all x

My dog recently had an ongoing problem with his ear, the staff at Medivet Hendon have always been very friendly, open in explaining what the veterinary procedures are and take genuine care in looking after the animals treated there.
My dog is now free from his irritated ear infection and much happier due to this. We are very grateful for the hard work that the staff at Medivet Hendon have done and continue to do. Even though our dog worries a bit about seeing a vet, he is always treated with care and ends up happy with whoever sees him :)

My hamster was extremely sick and on his death bed, however thankyou to medivet, they nursed him back to life and he's now all better. They were extremely nice and helpful and when I called to confirm they answered the phone quickly and answered everything without having to second think. Without them I would probably not have my hamster in my life right now.

A huge and massive thank you to all at Medivet who looked after my cat after a seizure, skin complaint and reaction to a chemical.
The attention to detail was absolutely second to none, regular updates were given to us and the absolute best of attention was given to Pasha. Medivet went above and beyond to make sure Pasha was comfortable being out of her usual home environment.
The staff are all extremely knowledegable, brilliant to deal with and make the whole nerve wracking experience of having your little loved one out of your care much easier and give you the ultimate confidence in their care.
Medivets direct contact with the insurers made the process simple and easy to cope with, again a huge thank you to all at Medivet who did as much to calm my nerves as much as Pasha's.
