We brought our extremely temperamental boxer Rocco to see Richard a few months ago as he had been having fits and wasn't well. He talked us through different options and we decided to try a steroid medication, this decision gave us nearly 5 extra months with our fur baby.. Unfortunately this morning that dreadful day arrived when we had to send him off to doggy heaven. Again Richard was brilliant. We didn't feel rushed and was allowed to stay with him till we were ready to go. I can't thank Medivet Hendon enough for the professional and caring attitude. No we have to deal with the loss of our baby but we are happy knowing he was treated with respect.

My dog required a Caesarean. We were told that it would cost £2000. It was a Sunday. What choice did we have? The dog's breeder who has been through this many times said her vet in Norfolk charges £300 on a weekday and double for a Sunday. Even if you take in to account London weighting this is still unjustifiable. By choosing to take the dog home we saved £400. So the final bill was £1600. Medivet do a good job but the billing is outrageous.
Thank you for your review, we highly value all feedback from our clients so that we can continually improve our level of standards. We understand your concerns about costs, and hope the following will help to explain where the costs arose from. Our Medivet Hendon practice is an awarded "Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) 24 Hour hospital with emergency service clinic status. We have invested in state of the art equipment to provide a gold standard service for our patients, which brings us to the elite in private veterinary care. Being an RCVS accredited hospital, we have generous staffing levels at night and on weekends to give every patient the best possible around the clock emergency treatment and care. For this type of procedure, we routinely have at least six nurses and two vets on hand to assist in surgery and puppy revival, along with dealing with any possible complications which might arise including the use of a blood transfusion during surgery and incubators for the puppies. All of this means that the owners can be rest assured that their pet is going to receive the very best in care in any eventuality. This surgical procedure was performed by two surgeons, one of whom holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery and a General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. You will find practices, especially outside of London, that will charge less. However, we hope that our standard of care, expertise and facilities justify the costs. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss any aspects of this further.
