“amazing vets! ”

We are the parents of 3 minature dachshunds and after hearing such good things we decided to start going to 'your vets' our two boys came for the dreaded snip and were given such love and affection and made it that bit easier to leave them, we then bought our girl in for a puppy check up and vacs and again they make the dogs feel calm. One evening our lola hurt her leg and we rushed her down late at night and she was seen instantly and the lovley nurse reassured us and lola that she was in good hands. Very proffesional and loving staff.
Thankyou your vets! :)

“Daisy”

Just before Christmas, Daisy, our Staffy Crossbreed, started limping on her right/rear leg - as she had ruptured the left cruciate ligament in 2009 & was treated by Your Vets, I had no hesitation in taking back to them for investigation.
From the moment she arrived for her x-rays/investigation, all the staff were brilliant, offering advice & help with the insurance claim & course of action! - Early in Feb. she went in for her op to rectify the right cruciate ligament & again the staff were outstanding - I work in the medical industry & wish some doctors were as attentive to patients!
The whole op was discussed with me beforehand & the recovery procedure was explained, - the op itself was a success & Daisy walked on all fours out of the vets on collection! - Unfortunately, her leg swelled after the op so she went back in for 3 days, but regular phone calls & updates from the vets kept us from worrying unduly .....I cant impress enough the attention YourVets paid to Daisy during her recovery!

Many Thanks!

“Fantastic Experience”

What a fantastic practice to take your pets too, we have 5 dogs and if we think something is wrong with one of them we don't take chances.
It's never a joy when you have to take your sick animal to the vets, buts helped with friendly staff. This starts when you walk through the door, you are greeted with a pleasant smile and welcome from all of the reception staff. Once booked in you never have to wait to long until you are called through to see the vet.
Once in the consulting room you are listened too and then everything is explained very clearly and if you don't understand they will explain it again. You are never rushed in the consulting room time is taken with your pet and you too make sure everything is ok.
We have had to have various operations on our dogs, cruciate ligament ops, Ear canal surgery, bladder scans and spaying. Every time we take or collect our pets everything is explained clearly as to what is going to happen. Our dogs have been returned to us and we are glad because we know we have left them in "VERY" safe hands.
I have read other poor reviews listed on this site and can understand where their owners may be coming from, but unfortunately animals cannot tell us where or what is hurting. Doctors can make mistakes on humans everyone is only human.
"YOUR VETS" is a very good practice and we have recommended several of our friends to them as well.
KEEP UP YOUR VERY GOOD WORK TO ALL STAFF AT "YOUR VETS"
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Jon & Margaret.

“Vets have a responsibility !!”

Your Vets told me the dog had one condition, operated on him & then I was returning with the same problems. The condition my dog had would not have been treated at Rayleigh so I was referred to The Royal Vetenary College ( Thank god! ) they stated he had had the condition for some time & the vet at Your Vets had put it in my dogs notes ( even tho I had continuously asked about this condition the vet dismissed it ) this stopped the insurance company paying the bill because it was an on-going problem. Your Vets cost me a total of nearly £4.000 & considerable suffering 2 my dog. I have now joined a reputable vets who are honest with me & have my dogs welfare at heart.

I have left almost a year to rite this review because I was so so angry.

Chris Shorrock
Clinic Director

As you know your dog was first seen by us at our Rayleigh Vets clinic in November 2013 for ectopic cilia of the right upper and lower eyelids. This was operated on and corrected. Mumford was fine until March 2014 nearly 4 months later when he again developed eye problems - however this was a different condition called Diamond eye that was diagnosed and repaired at the RVC after we decided that referral was the best option.

Veterinary surgeons have a legal responsibility to make clinical notes at the time of consultation and treatment. This was of course done in Mumford's case as with all other pets we see, in order to provide the best possible continuity of care for every pet. Your insurance company's decision not to pay the claim is of course regrettable but is related to their own terms and conditions, and nothing to do with our vets or YourVets as a company. I completely reject your assertion that we were in any way dishonest. In fact to not record the history in order for you to make a successful insurance claim could itself be considered insurance fraud.

I am happy to hear that Mumford made a full recovery, and wish him well.

“Care for Paddy”

I had taken my dog paddy to this vet to remove two growths that had developed around this eye and back of his neck.

The operation was completed and the stitching around his eye was done so small and neat that I it looks like it will heal perfectly.

The surgeon who had worked on Paddy recognised me waiting in reception when I came to collect him and stopped and explained exactly what he had done to paddy and reassured me that he was fine.

A weeks later I hard to go back to get the stitches removed, the one around his eye was not removed as it was too close to the eye and the stitches were too small, so they were left to dissolve.

The one on the back of his neck was removed very quickly.

On the way home the wound opened up and there was a small amount of bleeding, By the time I got him home and was able to see it fully, the vets were closed so I cleaned him up and the bleeding stopped. I called the vets first thing in the morning, and while they had appointments they moved them about and treated him as an emergency and told me to bring him straight in.

I took him down to the vets, the receptionist already knew about him but the time I got there and directed me to the waiting area where I was promptly called into the room by a vet, in the room was a vet surgeon, who was waiting for him. He quickly took details of what happened and began sorting out his injury.

The surgeon was the nicest and friendly vet I have ever met and took more time that he needed to make sure that he had calmed Paddy down, he is very nervous when in the vets anyway but this really helped.

They cleaned him up, disinfected the wound and stapled it up with no fuss.

I cannot be more thankful to the surgeon and the nurse who was with him.

I was not even charged for the service.

“So Kind”

Having a very poorly doggy on Sunday evening 11/1/15, we rushed her to the out of hours vet as we were so worried, on initial consultation the vet was not overly concerned possibly a reaction to steroids prescribed a week before for an ear infection. Just as a precaution we asked for blood tests and left Shelby for an overnight stay to get her rehydrated etc. Within 2 hours I received a call from Catalina the vet on duty with not very good news following blood tests it turned out my dog was far more poorly than we had thought. We had to make the horrible decision to have Shelby put to sleep. Bearing in mind it was very late at night Catalina was so,so patient and kind in helping us with our decision, we even got a hug and a box of tissues, a big, big thank you to all the staff for your kindness and consideration at a horrible, horrible time.

“Blubell”

Unfortunately I have to write a bad review. My dog
Had a lump appear on her rib cage, it was tested and was informed
At first 3/5 days for results from blood sample. After 7 days and no update I
Called and was told could be 7/10 days which is fair enough. After a month
And still no update I called again to be informed the results were lost
But luckily non cancerous. A short spell of steroids didn't resolve anything
And blubell was re seen and given 2 options. I called back a few days later
But vet was busy and told I would be contacted but haven't been. So I took my dog
To another vet who assessed her and immediately sent her to a surgeon as an
Emergency . She has been kept in for MRI scans then surgery tomorrow with the surgeon
As a matter of urgency. I don't like to leave a bad review but felt in this instance I had to as the topic
Is so important.

Chris Shorrock - Clinical Director
YourVets Rayleigh

When Bluebell was first seen with lump on 8 August we offered full excision of the mass under anaesthetic, biopsy only under anaesthetic or a conscious fine needle aspirate. You opted for the fine needle aspirate to send for cytology. Unfortunately the results were not reported by the lab until we contacted them 2 weeks later at your request. This delay was very unfortunate, but was beyond our control, we have been speaking to the lab to ensure that they don't make this mistake again.
The results suggested the mass to be a non-specific inflammatory response but not dangerous, hence why Bluebell was placed on anti-inflammatories. On your revisit on 1 October the mass was found to have grown rather than reduced. The vet then offered you referral for full removal and CT scan as indicated. We are sorry if in this instance the options were not clearly explained enough to you - as the second vet you have consulted merely offered you what we had already offered you. We wish Bluebell a speedy recovery!

“Contradiction of concern”

This is more an explanation than a review - I would just like to thank Ashleigh and the team for looking after Jock so well once he was diagnosed with diabetes. However I have decided to take him to a different vet and the simple reason is that last Saturday I went to collect insulin and was told I could only have a 5ml bottle instead of 40ml becuase he needed a frutosimine test. I hadnt been able to book Jock in until end of Sept because of the cost also he had had antibiotics in August and I didnt want the result of the test marred in any way. But it seemed a contradiction of concern: 'you can only have 5ml so until you come in with him to be assessed only then will we give you more insulin' He needs insulin! 5ml will last two days max! what was your reasoning with this? However it has left a nasty taste and for that reason I have to today thank you very much but I wont be back.

Chris Shorrock
Clinical Director - YourVets Rayleigh

Dear Mrs Killick, We are very sorry to hear that you felt dissatisfied with our services. Unfortunately although Jock has been undergoing treatment for diabetes for nearly a year, he has still been having the complication of gastrointestinal upsets. The vet dealing with your case felt that regular monitoring and blood tests were still important until he became more stable. These blood tests were due in August but as you say you hadn't been able to book in as yet.
The RCVS and Veterinary Medicines Directorate place the responsibility for prescribing medicines and for how long squarely on the shoulders of the vet. In this case unfortunately, the vet didn't feel safe or comfortable dispensing enough insulin for a longer course of treatment without first seeing the results of the Fructosamine blood tests. We are sorry that we weren't able to meet your requirements in this instance and we hope that you find a good outcome for Jock's treatment.

“Professionalism”

I visited this practice today (22/08/14) to have them cast an opinion on what looked like to me to be a wart growing on my dog's face. For the record my dog has been registered with this practise since birth. I was totally unimpressed with the service I received as I got the impression all they were interested in was taking my money. When I asked for a recommendation from them as to whether there was a problem they were totally uncommitted (they are supposed to be so called experts in their field - I might just as well have gone to a butcher for advice) all they would say is it's up to you. That's not the sort of response I was looking for or expecting. I would not recommend this practise to any pet owner.

Chris Shorrock
Clinical Director

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the service you received at Yourvets Rayleigh. I have had a look at Honey's notes. The mass she has is not a wart. The vets advised you that it was most likely a mass called a histiocytoma in such a young dog and that these are not dangerous and often disappear by themselves. However she also advised you that in a small number of cases they can be a much more dangerous mass called a mast cell tumour. She did offer you surgical excision of the mass for peace of mind. If you would like to discuss the way forward then please contact the clinic so that we can discuss the problem further.

Over the years I have been a client, I have never felt such comfort and reassurance in the treatment and care from this team. Nothing seems too much trouble.
One thing in particular that I must comment on, is their attitude when it comes to having to make the tough decisions in saying goodbye. No matter the pet, this team treat them all the same - with respect, with the utmost care and the tenderness as if my pet was their own. They even send out condolence cards! Such a lovely thing to do.

“First Class”

I started out using a local vet in South Woodham Ferrers, we I moved to Rayleigh, I tried a vets once, their lack of compassion forced me to return to SWF to see my original vet, who was great with Zeus......

When I moved to Southend, the journey to SWF was a little much, so my Sister recommended Yourvets to me. Best decision ever! Their drive is in the pets best interest, for any treatment required, there was always 'options', no 1 route of treatment only, no knocking you for 'expensive' treatments and their honesty was always amazing to see; I had on a few occasions been given the cheaper options against that that would be more revenue for them.

At the end of Zeus's life, they treated him with respect, dignity and compassion. Their support and care for me as the owner making that gut wrenching decision was amazing. I can honestly say, that they are a professional team through and through and not only to the pets we bring in to them, but the other part that goes with it, us, the owners. I would have no problems recommending them to anyone, in fact, I have to a few people. When the time is right and I get myself another dog, they are the first vets I will be going to (if I am still local).

Thank you
