“Total Professionals”

My husband and I have kept chickens for over four years now and during that time we have been very disappointed (and sometime dismayed) by the lack of knowledge of chicken health problems/diseases by the local vets in our area. When the second of two of our chickens became ill with egg peritonitis our old vet threw in the towel and recommended the Barrier Animal Care Clinic as they deal with "exotic" animals. Although it is a bit of trek from where we live I wouldn't take our girls anywhere else now. The respect and compassion showed to us and to our poorly chicken, who unfortunately had to be put to sleep, was second to none. I have total confidence in the Barrier Animal Clinic and have not hesitated to recommend them to all my friends who keep "back door chickens" in suburbia.

“Mimo the tortoise”

After our family tortoise got attacked by our family dog we was all very upset and shocked and very worried for the outcome of our tortoise.

We found the Barrier Animal Care Clinic after google-ing reptile vets in desperate hope of somebody that may be able to save Mimo.

From the moment we spoke to the clinic on the phone we was impressed with there knowledge and concern for Mimo, we felt comfortable leaving him at the clinic.

I don't have a bad word to say about the work that was done to our tortoise and the after care we received it was very comforting knowing that the vets and nurses here were as concerned for our tortoise as we were and that it wasn't another item on the conveyor belt.

I would recommend this vets to anybody.

“The Best”

I was only going to the Barrier Clinic for about a year, but I wish I knew about them when I first got my dog Bisto. They were helpful, honest, and I really trusted them with my dog treatment. Sadly I lost Bisto in July 2013, but they were so kind and at the end of the phone line to help me when I needed advice. I would recommend them to everyone.

“Excellent”

I couldn't ask for a better vet practice, they recently treated my my very sick German shepherd. They reassured me the while they were running tests on her. When she needed surgery they kept me informed before, during and after the surgery. They allowed our family into see her afterwards which was very comforting for her and us. As soon as the results for the tumor came back we were again told straight away. The reception staff are always friendly and helpful. It always smells and looks clean.
They always greet my animals in a friendly way and put them at ease before any treatment is started which can be difficult with a bouncy 1 year old Siberian Husky as well as the elderly German Shepherd.

“A brilliant practice”

The only vet I have ever attended with a comprehensive price list on display. Brandon Spolander is an expert vet with the animal's welfare at the top of the agenda. All vets, nurses and reception staff are professional and friendly. The practice even has an holistic vet with herbal tincture treatments in support of conventional medicine. I highly recommend this practice.

“We wouldn't go anywhere else”

When I took on rats in early 2012 I contacted my local vets to sign up somewhere. They recommended Barrier Animal Care Clinic as they did not see exotics. Despite being 45m from us we won't go anywhere else. The two receptionists, Kim and Margaret, are always friendly, the nurses helpful and the two vets we see (Brendan, the practice owner, and vet Violaine) are exceptional.

We've battled mammary tumour removal, other lumpectomies, spays, the implant (Violaine investigated the implant option as one of our girl's respiratory problems meant she could not be put under for a spay), a castration, cancer, teeth trims and umpteen respiratory issues.

You really know they care here. They ask about animals who have been poorly before when we visit and are wonderful beyond words. They were very kind when I had one of my girls pass away.

I wish we saw them less as I know they do too, unfortunately with 10 rats we see them monthly and my animals are are in the best hands.
