Having trapped my poor Border Terrier Joey's leg in the tail gate of my car on Good Friday, and advised by a vet in Birmingham to "keep an eye on him and see a vet if it doesn't improve". We travelled to Dorset for the weekend, Joey was in obvious pain overnight on Friday, so much so we sourced Medivet Wool on Saturday morning. The receptionist was extremely helpful and made an appointment for us later that morning. On arrival, we were quickly documented and Joey seen by the vet Andy Buchan, who treated him so gently. Andy advised an x-ray believing that he had a fracture of a carpal bone. We left Joey at 12 noon, at 2.30 we returned and Andy showed the x-ray confirming his diagnosis, he dressed and applied a supporting bandage.
Everyone at the surgery demonstrated the utmost care, not only for Joey, but also for us as the perpetrators of his injury. We can not recommend them highly enough. Although we hope we do not need their services again, I would not hesitate to contact them if required when we visit Dorset. They even forwarded the x-rays and report to our own vet in Birmingham via email.
Thank you again, Joey is on the mend, dressing having lasted 48 hours before he ripped it off, back to our vet tonight.

At what was the most distressing time for our family, losing our beloved dog Milly after 12 years, Andy and his team were amazing.

Heathlands are our vets of choice for Jed, my 14 year old collie and Mabel, our 4 year old black labrador.
Jed has required very little medical attention over the years and has been well and promptly cared for when necessary.
Mabel is a walking disaster area and has required treatment for various allergic reactions, has had the tip of a blackthorn pierce her eye, eating all sorts of rubbish (typical lab) requiring overnight care on a drip, urgent stomach surgery for a blockage, was referred to a specialist for 2 TPLO's (knee surgery) and all the usual scrapes and gashes suffered by a dog living life to the full.
Her care has been exemplary, the Vets, nursing staff and receptionists are first class and we cannot praise Heathlands highly enough.
