“Absolutely fantastic”

Andrew and the whole team at bitterne vets for pets are really wonderful. They care about the animals deeply and have looked after our 2 cats so well despite many years of poor health. I'm sure our littlest cat would not be here now if it wasn't for the perseverance of the team. They have never given up even when we have thought about it. Every single member of staff is kind, caring and extremely friendly. They are knowledgeable and offer sound advice and will always work out a solution in complicated situations. We will be eternally grateful for everything they have done for us and our cats.

“Consultation Fees”

I phoned the surgery for some advice about my cats watery right eye, this was a problem which didn't seem to be getting any worse, signs of infection etc, but at the same time wasn't clearing up. I managed the problem at home by occasionally bathing her eyes with cooled boiled water.
The surgery advised that medication could not be prescribed until my pet had been seen at the surgery. I was happy to comply with this as wouldn't want to think of my pet suffering in any way.
I cannot fault the vet who looked at my cat, she had a kind and gentle approach, but all she did was hold my cats head and look at her eyes. I was told to continue the treatment I had already started at home. The whole consultation took no more than four minutes(my husband sat in the waiting room had timed our consultation with the vet) and I was there fore shocked to receive a bill for £31.00 for consultation fees!!
May be I am not up to speed with current vet charges, but to me £31:00 for a four minute consultation fee is a bit steep.
Interestingly my husband worked it out, that if the vet did an hours worth of four minute consultations, it works out at £465:00 !

“The Best Vet Practice.”

I first visited this practice in November 2011 with 1 cat. Since then, I have made more visits than I can remember, and I've sadly lost 2 cats- Bella and Miss Violet. Miss Violet died in my arms at the surgery. VN Emma was a tower of strength and comfort. The cards and sympathy I had from the practice after the sad event was so lovely. I have also recently had my dog pass on, and Andrew made this difficult decision a gentle and peaceful time. I now have another cat (making 2 cats in all) and a Yorkie. The advice I get for all my animals is outstanding. I have recommended others to this vet practice, and even my mum now brings her cat to them. For a vet practice that truly cares about your pets, and not about making money, this is the place to go.

“Would highly recommend”

It's very rare I write reviews but I was so pleased with my visit to this practice that I really wanted to share my experience.

I was taking my 10 week old puppy in for her second set of vaccinations and to be micro-chipped on 27.1.14. The vet had a very gentle manner, showed a genuine an interest in my little girl and I felt he provided me plenty of information to help me make informed decisions (as opposed to sell me things!).

Similarly, the ladies in the reception area were very friendly and enthusiastic in their work, attentive and affectionate towards my puppy and I felt giving me a tour of the practice (being a first time visitor) was a lovely way of making me feel at ease when I take her there in the future.

I will happily and confidently recommend this practice to anyone in the area and will continue to visit there myself. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars on value is because this is my first time at the vets (with a dog) and I have nothing to compare the prices with.
