Practice Details

We are a modern, highly equipped, friendly hospital based practice with Veterinary Centres in Plympton, Plymstock, Lipson & St. Budeaux. We have vets with further qualifications in imaging, cardiology, behaviour therapy, dermatology & surgery. Our nurses run many clinics for your pet. We have a dedicated night and weekend team. We rate preventative healthcare as being extremely important. Our aim is to provide high quality care for our patients and their owners at all times.

“they couldn”

We went here with are dog to see what was up,but my poor roxy didn't make it but the guys here did everything they could have and we're so friendly even after she had passed they let us she her and cleaned her up and make her prosentible thank you so much for helping my roxy pass peacefully

“Miss Pearce with Felix”

I can't express how grateful I am to the team who looked after & cared for Felix. Outstanding! After having 11 of his teeth taken out, understandably he was in a lot of pain. But the girls cared for him around the clock.

After seeing him in a bit of a mess after his operation, I knew the best thing for him would be to stay in overnight where he'd get all the care he needed - which he certainly did.

I was explained everything in depth, they really put my mind at ease. & I was also kept up to date with phone calls on his progress.

He's now home & already full of life! I would like to say a special thank you to Katie - the surgeon who operated on him. Also to the rest of the team who was involved in his care. Your hard work doesn't go unnoticed!

“Thank You!”

Lola, my 10 month old puppy, was spayed on Tuesday and I couldn't be more happy with way we were dealt with.
I called initially to make the appointment and was given one for the following week at a time to suit me.
I was sent a letter detailing everything I would need to know before the operation.
I called on the day to say I would be late as I was stuck in traffic and the man I spoke to on the phone assured me this was ok and not to worry.
I waited about 20 minutes to see someone, but this wasn't an issue as I was late and there were lots of people/animals in the waiting room.
I was talked through the forms efficiently and everything was explained fully about the operation.
I was given time to say bye to Lola before they took her away and was dealt with in a very sensitive manner.
At 2pm I was called to let me know Lola was ok and to arrange a pick up time, 3 hours later.
When I arrived the staff talked me through the after car before going to get Lola, who came out as if nothing had happened.
I have just called to make a follow up appointment and spoke to another friendly, efficient receptionist.
I couldn't be happier with the service and care we have received. A huge thank you to all the staff, from myself and Lola!

“Saved our dog!!!”

I had to bring our dog into the Estover branch as he had eaten some painkillers. I was extremely worried and upset, but all of the staff were caring, friendly and put me at ease. They took very good care of him and kept me updated regularly with his progress. I would like to say a huge thanks to all involved in his care- you are a lovely team!!

“Wonderfully supportive”

We took our elderly much loved dog to the out of hours emergency vet as she suddenly became very unwell.The treatment and support we received were excellent. Sadly the next morning we needed to have her put to sleep. The staff were amazing, gave us cups of tea, put us in a private room and gave us as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes before and after she died.Their compassion, understanding and kindness was so welcomed, and i would not hesitate to offer recommendations for their practice.

“Very considerate staff”

I have a very poorly cat (Sophie)at present and when I attended the hospital I was extremely upset. Both Corrine in reception and Katie Parsons the vet were extremely kind and considerate towards both myself and Sophie and treated us both with dignity at what is a very difficult time and I would like to thank them both.

“Cost”

Overall I was happy with the service but in the end it of course comes down to cost, the cost rose so quickly even when there was no treatment happening, I felt that we were exploited because in the end you will/or insurance will pay, so it is playing with emotions and in those situations you are caught off guard.
I would not use you on a regular basis but only for emergencies.

Reserving the right not to publish the review is not exactly helpful overall, as many reviews will never be seen.

We would like to thank you for this review and hope that your pet is making a good recovery. Cost is often a sore subject in veterinary practice, and yes, bills have a habit of mounting up. I can only assume that your pet was hospitalised, in which case the costs would be for the 24 hour care of which we are very proud. However, having a vet and qualified veterinary nurse on the premises looking after in-patients and available to see emergency cases 24 hours, 365 days a year is expensive, and has to be paid for by the users of these services. That level of care for which we are inspected by the RCVS (http://www.rcvs.org.uk) is much higher than most veterinary practices.

We really don't use emotional blackmail on pet owners. Wherever possible we try and give choices with different cost implications for the clients to decide. We are mostly pet owners ourselves and most often when your 'family member' is ill, you want the best possible care for them. Unfortunately, things do go wrong, and sometimes at the worst possible times. One way of being prepared for such eventualities is by having a pet insurance policy in place.

We will do our best to be there for when Davemo next requires us.
