Practice Details

We are a modern, highly equipped, friendly hospital based practice with Veterinary Centres in Plympton, Plymstock, Lipson & St. Budeaux. We have vets with further qualifications in imaging, cardiology, behaviour therapy, dermatology & surgery. Our nurses run many clinics for your pet. We have a dedicated night and weekend team. We rate preventative healthcare as being extremely important. Our aim is to provide high quality care for our patients and their owners at all times.

“Wonderfully supportive”

We took our elderly much loved dog to the out of hours emergency vet as she suddenly became very unwell.The treatment and support we received were excellent. Sadly the next morning we needed to have her put to sleep. The staff were amazing, gave us cups of tea, put us in a private room and gave us as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes before and after she died.Their compassion, understanding and kindness was so welcomed, and i would not hesitate to offer recommendations for their practice.

“Very considerate staff”

I have a very poorly cat (Sophie)at present and when I attended the hospital I was extremely upset. Both Corrine in reception and Katie Parsons the vet were extremely kind and considerate towards both myself and Sophie and treated us both with dignity at what is a very difficult time and I would like to thank them both.

Overall I was happy with the service but in the end it of course comes down to cost, the cost rose so quickly even when there was no treatment happening, I felt that we were exploited because in the end you will/or insurance will pay, so it is playing with emotions and in those situations you are caught off guard.
I would not use you on a regular basis but only for emergencies.

Reserving the right not to publish the review is not exactly helpful overall, as many reviews will never be seen.

We would like to thank you for this review and hope that your pet is making a good recovery. Cost is often a sore subject in veterinary practice, and yes, bills have a habit of mounting up. I can only assume that your pet was hospitalised, in which case the costs would be for the 24 hour care of which we are very proud. However, having a vet and qualified veterinary nurse on the premises looking after in-patients and available to see emergency cases 24 hours, 365 days a year is expensive, and has to be paid for by the users of these services. That level of care for which we are inspected by the RCVS ( is much higher than most veterinary practices.

We really don't use emotional blackmail on pet owners. Wherever possible we try and give choices with different cost implications for the clients to decide. We are mostly pet owners ourselves and most often when your 'family member' is ill, you want the best possible care for them. Unfortunately, things do go wrong, and sometimes at the worst possible times. One way of being prepared for such eventualities is by having a pet insurance policy in place.

We will do our best to be there for when Davemo next requires us.

“fantastic people”

All concerned looked after my dog Storm very well kept me informed all the way through treatment. Have been with them for twenty years plus and will definitely be staying with them for another twenty years.
