“Best vet practice I have ever been to”

I have had occasion to go to many vets over the years around Newquay and Truro and can honestly say this practice is streets ahead of them all - so friendly, caring and professional. My dog actually pulls on the lead to go in when we have to visit, he loves them all!
Cannot recommend them highly enough!

“The Best”

Have used City Vets for many years now and I can't praise them enough. The whole team, from receptionists, to nurses, to the vets themselves are really something special. They are very compassionate, caring and professional.. It doesn't matter which vet you get to see as they are all very thoughtful and kind, obviously taking great pride in their jobs and always taking time to discuss your pets needs. Nothing is ever too much trouble.I was recommended initially by a friend after having a bad experience with another practice but my faith was restored by this caring team. I can't recommend them enough.

“Complete confidence”

All of the team at City Road are excellent. They are friendly, helpful and very patient. The drop-in surgery system is brilliant and works really well. The vets are always great with my dog, Lucy, and with me and my sometimes overly anxious questions. They explain things thoughtfully and when Lucy has needed treatment this has been available quickly. The healthy pet scheme offers great value for money and enables to spread the routine costs. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

I always recommend our veterinary centre.

Also all the veterinary surgeons explain things in words you can understand - not condescending and empathise with you.

“Always excellent”

I feel compelled to write this after seeing the surgery addressing the negative review left on here today.

The vets, receptionists, nurses - everyone that works at this surgery treats you with kindness as respect. They seem to love your pets as much as you do and take every opportunity to offer helpful advice. This includes advice on how to keep treatment costs down.

I'm astounded that anyone would leave a review so negative about a business that so clearly values its customers.
For goodness sake, they even remember the names of everyone's pets! Not to mention the fantastic way in which they have dealt with the complaint.

I couldn't fault them.

“overcharged and rude vet”

The nurses and receptionists are lovely however one of the vets isnt. I was quoted on the phone a very different charge to the one i received. I visit this vets especially because they USED to be value for money and i waited till i was in the area to do so. However instead of being charged the fee £7 which i used to be quoted when my husband visited i was charged £47. I rang up to get a reason and the vet was extremely rude and ignorant, accused me of making exaggerations and spoke down to me saying the same thing. Was a complete rip off and wish i would have gone elsewhere. I will in future. Disgusting how they treat you and rip you off now. They shud be focusing on getting the right treatment for the animal instead of timing you on minutes and waffling on about things that dont help. They should have set costs for treatments and consultations that your made aware before of so you know if you can afford. When you ring up to enquire you shouldnt be told something completely different. Absolutely disgusting. Dont use until they have change their attitutes towards theyr customers or change that vet

City Road Veterinary Centre

Hi Fran,

We're most sorry that you were unhappy with our service on this single occasion. We understand that both Dilbert and Stewies consultations were much more involved than initially led to believe and that David ( the vet concerned) did outline and explain that there would be additional costs during these lengthier examinations which you agreed to and attempted to afterwards by phone.

However this has happened, it appears that there has been a breakdown in communication, and we are most sorry that this has occurred.

We understand that you have been pleased with our services in the past and hope to continue our previous happy relationship with you and your pets in the future.

Please feel free to pop into the surgery if you would like to discuss this matter further.

“A truly caring and professional practice”

My pets have been registered with City Road Veterinary Practice more years than I care to remember. During that time we have had 4 cats and 3 dogs. Whenever we have needed to see one of the partners, whether for a minor ailment or a more important one, we have always been impressed by the kindness, care, good humour and professionalism shown to us by all the partners, veterinary nurses and receptionists over the years. The waiting room is clean, tidy and all the staff are welcoming. Whilst waiting, there is such a friendly atmosphere between staff and clients. From the first days of owning a pet until their final days my pets have always received such excellent treatment and I have always recommended the practice to anyone who is getting a pet or moving into the area. One small example of the kindness shown is when my last Samoyed had to be put to sleep. She had been in distress during the night, I phoned early in the morning and was told to come straight in, despite not being early enough for normal surgery hours. The care and compassion that was shown to both my Sammi and us was over and above what would have normally been expected. We even received a sympathy card a few days later. That is just one small reason why I am so grateful to everyone in the practice. After almost three years we are now thinking of getting another dog and I know where he/she will be paying one of their first visits. THANK YOU to everyone at City Road. You are wonderful.

“Always understanding”

Having more pets than I really should, I am a regular visitor to City Road Vets. Through happy, sad or traumatic visits I have always received the same warm welcome from the receptionists and understanding professionalism from the nurses and vets. Nothing is too much trouble and what makes City Road stand out from previous vets practices I have used over a long pet caring life is, if there is a difficult diagnosis - as has happened - they discuss it with each other and are therefore all aware of what is happening. So, on any subsequent visits, it is not vital to see the same vet. It gives me confidence knowing that when I leave a pet there, they are in excellent hands.

“Working hard at being the best.”

I wrote a review back in 2012, saying that City Road vets were "simply the best"
In the time that has passed they have continually worked at improving their service even more- quite a challenge when you have an excellent service running already, but this is just what puts City Road in the position that they have at the forefront of Veterinary care in Truro.
How have they done this? Well, firstly by listening to their clients. After all, they are the people who come back when they are happy or move on if they are not. Extra clinics are now running on Saturdays and Sundays, and schemes to help clients budget for their pets preventative treatments. Pensioners are also given a little extra help. Education and training is considered to be of high importance in the practice and as a client one often gets a glimpse of this when the vets explain conditions to nurses and veterinary students.
I have had no hesitation in recommending City Road to my neighbours and friends, and every one of them has been as impressed as I am with the service.

“Absolutely Brilliant!”

City Road have looked after our dog, Chilli, (a chocolate lab/collie cross) from when we got him as an 11 week old puppy. He is now 2 years old and City Road have been absolutely brilliant with him, whatever the reason for our visit.

They offer a "puppy party" once a week for all unvaccinated puppies, so that they are able to socialise with other puppies, which Chilli absolutely loved going to when he was tiny.

On the occasions that we have had to visit City Road because Chilli was poorly, they were wonderfully caring with him, whilst still being extremely efficient and professional. In fact, he is under the care of City Road at the moment, for a skin infection, and they are doing a marvellous job with him.

I would not take Chilli anywhere else - he is always made a fuss of and doesn't mind visiting the vets at all. In fact, I think he quite likes it!

Her vet in London has been telling her for a couple of years that both the cats need attention to their teeth & quoted £344 each cat!!! Obviously she kept putting it off but when she was down recently with both cats we took them for their annual vaccinations & check ups to City Road. Only one cat needed attention to her teeth so my daughter booked her in while they were here. £128 for the treatment!!!! Quite a huge difference & one cat didn't need doing anyway!!. I think in future she will bring them down when their check ups are due & eventually have the second cat's teeth done here. Result!!Thank you.

My family have used this veterinary practice for what feels like my whole life. We have taken a range of animals and birds to them - goldfish with the bends, ducks that have been attacked by foxes, ferrets etc. They are wonderful. They understand the quirky nature of some animals - one of our dogs 'insisted' on being weighed every time we visited. One one occasion I interrupted the telephone conversation of a receptionist with a dog bleeding heavily (she was brilliant), but are also able to help with the right decision when a beloved pet has to be put to sleep - allowing us to leave by the back door. They really are fabulous.

After 30 plus years of excellent care it is a pleasure to say how much the City Road crew are valued. I have turned up on their doorstep with numerous cats, hamsters and assorted wildlife. The welcome has always been warm and caring.

One of my cats suffered from diabetes and owed his longevity to the care he received. During that time the vets were always supportive of my "I read on the internet ..." ideas and working together home testing for blood glucose levels became the norm. Oscar lived to a grand age of 18 not bad for a cat who was diabetic for ten years.

Having been the 3rd owner to a 6 month old kitten called Tara, ourselves and the team at the surgory have worked endlessly to try and put all of Tara's ailments right - at less than a year old she had extensive surgery on her knees and hips to enable her proper movement. After that for 2 years she was fantastic, with stunted growth, she managed to have a great life at her own pace with what she was comfortable with. Unfortunately 2 years on and her Kidneys failed, such a sad sad loss of a great character and family member. But the team at City Road came riding in on their white horses to try and do anything and everything possible for her - right down to the final moments.

During the last 20 years City Road Vets have treated five of our dogs and our one cat with unparallelled professionalism and compassion. Two of our dogs in particular have needed extensive treatment. We have been helped through very complicated conditions and been shown the most sympathetic end of life care, and our feeling has always been that all staff at City Road will go way beyond what can reasonably be expected in order to help a sick animal and its worried owner. We are hugely grateful to them all.

“Highly Recommended”

This is the only surgery that I have taken our whippet, Naseem, to where I don't need to drag him through the door. He even barks when he see's one of the vets to make his presence known. Fantastic care and service, I even received a sympathy card when we had to bring in our very old cat for her last visit. I would highly recommend this veterinary surgery to anyone.

“Caring practice”

I have been using this practice for 16 years and have always had excellent service from the vets, nurses and receptionists. Whether it's the joy of taking a new puppy for its first visit, or the sorrow of taking a beloved dog for its last visit, the staff are kind, friendly and caring. Whenever I have to leave pets for treatment,I am confident that they are in safe hands and are well looked after. I never have to drag my dogs - claws scraping across the floor - into the surgery. One of my dogs was a frequent visitor and must have experienced some pain and discomfort over the years, but she always went in with wagging tail. As long as she got her 'sweetie' at the end, she was happy!

“Simply the best.”

When looking to register your pets with a vet in Truro, one has a lot of choice. There are several veterinary surgeries in a small area. However, City Road Vets have something special to offer.
Don't take my word for it - go and see for yourself, or ask one of my two springer spaniels, who always happily jump out of the car when we visit.
Being very active dogs they have had their fair share of treatments over the last few years, but the love and attention they have recieved has made them very relaxed about their experience and the quality of their treatment of the highest standard.

For me, City Road is simply the best Veterinary centre in town.

“a warm friendly vets”

friendly, caring and good vets; friendly and very helpful nurses; nice receptionists; cracking care over many years for my cats.
There are nearer vets to where I live but I wouldn't want to go anywhere else.
Just wish Sparky and I didn't have to see them so much!
