“Our family vet”

For the past 8 years we have took our dogs to see Richard at the Gidea Park pratice. Here they are treated like old friends by Richard and his great staff members.
We have had all normal problems with our dogs seen to with great thought and honesty for the best way to go forward with treatment.
Then at the worst times, when we have had to bring our 16 year old Lab in for his final visit, the dog was treated with respect and dignity.
I would reccomend the surgery to any one who wants there pets looked after in the best possible way.

Calls when our pet was at home to check progress, then return visits to vets to check healing process.

“Excellent practice - highly recommended!”

We've been using Goddard's in Gidea Park for the last 7 years, and can't recommend them highly enough - Richard and the nurses are all fantastic! No matter how much time has passed between visits, Richard always remembers us and our lurcher, Tarn, and we can tell he cares about each animal individually. Whenever any of our pets are ill, we have peace of mind that they'll be well looked after by Richard and the team, with their years of experience and friendly, caring natures.

“Dogs for 40 years”

We have had dogs for the past 40 years, ever since we moved to Gidea Park and at the moment we have three of varying ages,2, 8 and 13 years. We have not always used Goddards but we have for at least the last 8 years. Richard Marks is the best vet that we have had dealings with, always friendly, professional, caring about the dogs and us and thoughtful when it comes to advising on treatments necessary, the costs involved and the likely long term outcome.
The nursing staff are equally friendly and very competent, always remembering ours and our 3 dogs' names, often telephoning to see how the patients are, following any treatment.
We always recommend Goddards Gidea Park to family and friends.

“Life saver”

We have used Goddard's Gidea Park for a number of years now, and found Richard Marks and his wonderfully caring group of nurses to be outstanding in their veterinary skills and care.
Richard and his team have brought our dog Ozzie through a number of health crises during the past 4-5 years.
However Richard's professionalism and excellent surgical skills have been a absolute life saver for Ozzie during the past couple of weeks, after he ate a large chunk of doormat resulting in a twisted stomach and intestinal obstruction. Richard operated and removed the obstruction in a long surgical operation and followed up regularly with us during the following days.
Following an anxious week or so for the family Ozzie is now making a good recovery and we are most grateful for Richard's veterinary skills supported by the care and help of his team.
We thoroughly recommend Richard and Goddard's Gidea Park as an excellent Veterinary practice.

“Outstanding”

I would like to firstly thank Richard for the helpful advise he gave when I went to discuss bringing a rescue dog over from Spain. Pepper (an eight month old Pharaoh Hound X) has been here with us for approximately three weeks. She has been spayed in the past few days. She arrived in UK with a digestive problem. Richard is brilliant, so reassuring. The medication he has put her on seems to be sorting out her digestion problems and she's coming on in leaps and bounds . So very glad Richard is our vet . He is a natural with both animals and people. Secondly I would like to thank the nursing staff, two of which are leaving this month, Dawn and Gemma, both of you will be GREATLY missed, what would I have done without all your help and advise.
Would recommend Richard and his team to anyone. They are simply THE BEST.

I have been coming to Goddard Vets in Gidea Park for many years, firstly with our cats and now with our Labrador, Milo.

The nurses are so welcoming and Milo loves the fuss that he receives upon arrival. They take their time to help with any queries that we have, they are also very accommodating with regards to appointment dates and times that suit us.

I have nothing but praise for Richard, he is very professional and I find that he is honest with the treatments that he suggests and also provides alternatives if a particular treatment is too expensive or not covered by insurance, he has nothing but the animals best interests at heart and even Milo still LOVES going to him so he can't be bad.

“Fantasia service from Richard and team”

We have been attending goddard's at gidea park , to see Richard and his team for quite some time. They are fantastic, Richard is always so amazing with our 2 Airedales, one a frantic puppy and the other an old boy . The pup has seen by the team since we brought him home 10 months ago, there is no fear when we attend he is not upset or anxious at all, actually as we attended puppy parties at the clinic , he sees it as a great place to make new friends. Wee entry have had a rough time with our old boy a 12 year old Airedale, we phoned and we told to bring him straight down, the troops helped us carry him from the car in his crate , and we were dealt with by all with such kindness, tissues were available as many tears were shed.
Richard is so amazing with the old boy, he hasn't always been that keen on vets ! On this occasion once he was stablished and tests were run, we were given plenty of time Tao discuss the options, thankfully he could come home and is doing really well. We received a call the next day asking how he was and back today for another check up, on each occasion the team have been great. Thank you so much to you all . We also get our dog food from Richard as we get a great deal and a great service.

“A vet that truly cares”

I recently came across Goddards when I was looking for help with a stray, injured cat. My usual vets were not interested in helping, even though the cat was suffering. The RSPCA gave me Goddards details which is where we ended up, so it was literally by chance that I found them.

I have always been a pet owner and have visited many vets over the years, but what I found at Goddards pretty much blew me away. I have been so impressed with the genuinely caring attitude shown by the vet, Richard, whose interpersonal skills with both people and animals are second to none. He very clearly cares about animals, which surprisingly is a rarity in vets, who are usually completely money orientated.

Richard has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help this cat regain its health and then thanked me for caring enough to bring it in! Wow ... how refreshing!

I have now left my original vets and registered with Goddards, even though I have to travel further, because the care here is without doubt, the best I've ever come across.

Thank you so much for providing such a welcoming, caring, accommodating service that I feel I can trust.

In around 2008 we nominated Richard for the PetPlan "Vet of the Year" as we were particularly impressed with the way he dealt with our 11 year old tabby cat. Richard has excellent interpersonal skills (compare him with vets of the '70s!) and has a way of handling our cats which puts them (and us!) at ease. Richard is obviously a victim of his own success as he has clients from Ipswich (120 round trip?) and Bishops Stortford (about a 60 mile round trip). “Highly Recommend ”

We turned to Richard and his excellent team of nurses 3 years ago when we brought home Barney our new family member. The practice is very welcoming and friendly, not having had a dog of our own before Richard put us at ease as to how to look after and care for Barney. The free of charge puppy parties were an excellent social event to attend as well as very informative as to how to train Barney. On arrival at the practice Barney is instantly put at ease by the very friendly nurses who are always very personable and they always make a fuss of him, which he loves. We attended monthly puppy checks until Barney reached one and since then he has received regular health checks. On one occasion we had to call on the practice for an emergency, a grass seed had lodged in Barney's paw and caused an infection which had travelled up his leg. We were given an appointment within an hour of phoning the practice and Barney was seen to without a fuss. I have every confidence in the professional advice Richard gives, he really does love animals which Barney can definitely sense. Thank you to a great team.

“Very Professional & Trusted Practice”

Chose to use Goddards at Gidea Park after reading reviews and have not been disappointed.

Took my first puppy Sophie to see vet Richard and we both had a very enjoyable visit.
Never having had a dog before Richard took the time to explain everything I needed to know and answered any questions I had.

The monthly puppy checks are excellent. It gives me the reassurance that Sophie is doing well, as Richard always takes the time to have a good look at her, and I know she is being properly vaccinated and treated for everything she needs to be. It also reassures Sophie that the vets is not such a frightening place as the staff always take the time to make a fuss of her.

The puppy parties on Saturdays are not only fun but a must!
The nurses that run them are so helpful and full of good advice. It gives the puppy's a great chance to socialise in a fun and safe environment. They do all this for the good of the animals at no charge!

Sophie is due to be neutered soon and I know she will get the very best treatment from Richard and the team.

Sophie and I would recommend this practice.
All the staff are very professional, friendly and willing to help, and the practice is always clean, tidy and well run.

“Cheeba recommends Goddards!”

Cheeba was left as a pup in a skip 16 years ago. My youngest son then rescued her from the Manchester Dogs' Home. Since then she has been a loving and much loved member of our family.

Richard and the staff at Goddard's Gidea Park Surgery have always treated Cheeba and myself with great kindness and care, especially when attending to her injuries from a road accident a few years ago. Cheeba is now in her twilight years and the support we are getting with her arthritus and other age related ailments is second to none from both a quality of life and a financial reality perspective.

We are very thankful for the support we have had and have recommended this practice to friends and family alike.

Included in the price of the innoculations are monthly health checks for the first six months, which is very reassuring. Also included in the price are four sessions of puppy socialisation classes which are fantastic, I have been given lots of information which has been invaluable as I am a first time dog owner. My friend recommended this practice to me when I acquired two new kittens and from our first visit I found Richard and the nurses to be extremely kind, caring and professional. I therefore felt very confident in taking them for their immunisations and to be spayed and upon picking them up after their operations I was very pleased to see that the stitches were buried and there would be no need for a collar to stop them from licking their wounds. I'm sure this is why their wounds have healed so quickly and so well. I was also very touched by the nurse's call the following day to check how both the cats were after their operations. I am so pleased my friend recommended this practice to me as I really feel Richard and all the staff really care about the animals they treat.

All the vetinary staff have been so helpful and Richard is the best and most caring vet I have met (I've met a few!).

The fact that the practice offers free monthly check-ups is so reassuring, knowing that during the most important months of a dog's life, they are being properly cared for and treated. It made me realise that they are not just interested in stealing money from your bank account (as most vets are!), but the wellbeing of the animals. Ruby loves all the staff and they all make such a fuss of her in return!

Richard is always so helpful in answering any questions that we have (however silly they are!) and always gives the best advice for our puppy. There is never any pressure to get you out the door so they can get the next appointment in!

I took Megan, aged 18, when she was very sick and really did not expect to bring her home. However, after running a number of tests, Richard advised that the illness was treatable and that Meg's overall health, this illness aside, belied her years. The operation was expensive but I trusted Richard's opinion that Meg still had years of life in her. I am delighted to say that she is still with us today aged 22 and a half (the half is important at her age). I just listen to what Richard advises now - he has never let me down.

“Excellent Vet Practice”

I have been registered with Goddard Gidea Park for nearly 5 years and have only praise for Richard and the lovely nurses. I have had cause to visit several times with my chocolate Labarador Seamus during this time and have always been made to feel very welcome and confident in the treatment he has received. I was recommended to Goddards by 3 friends before registering and I would have no hesitation in referring anyone here. Richard is a truly dedicated vet and always goes above and beyond when treating his patients. Once I had to visit the emergency vet in Wanstead on a Sunday and when the report was faxed through to Richard the next day he called me at home to check how Seamus was which I thought was very kind of him. It is also when you talk to other people about their vet experiences that you realise how lucky we are.

“Goddard staff to the rescue!”

On Sunday night I noticed that my cat had a problem with her claw embedding itself in her pad. I was mortified that I had not noticed this, and felt I had neglected her. After a fretful night worrying, I called the Gidea Park branch first thing Monday morning and explained the problem to the Nurse. Within 20 minutes my cat was being checked over by Richard, the Vet. He was attentive and gentle in his examination of Zeke - aware that she did not like much fussing - no matter how good the intention. He diagnosed her problem promptly and quickly alleviated my feelings of utter mortification. Zeke is now in the care of the Goddard Staff, awaiting her procedure. I cannot thank the Nurse and Vet enough for their kindness and understanding, their reassurances, their professionalism and swift attention. You are stars!

“Friendly, caring service”

Recently attended this practice for the first time after our 17 year old cat lost her appetite and began losing weight. We were given a same day appointment and were seen very promptly by vet Richard Marks. Following a thorough examination, Richard was able to assure us that our cat's condition was not life threatening, though immediate treatment was recommended. Richard went through all the available treatment options considering the age and condition of the cat and proposed a course of action. Within a couple of hours our cat was back home and began eating the following morning, much to our delight.

At every stage of the examination and subsequent treatment, Richard dealt with our cat in a tender and professional manner and went to great lengths to assure us that we would all enjoy a positive outcome. Having owned pets for almost 60 years, I don't ever recall a veterinary practice treating patients and owners with such care and compassion. This practice, and Richard Marks in particular, are a credit to the veterinary profession.

Richard always has the time to talk to you and offer any help and advice that you might need in caring for your pet, and he is always compassionate and caring towards the animals. My rabbits Rex and Fluffy needed to be neutered, and the operations were a great success. The aftercare was excellent, and both rabbits recovered with no problems. Rex was up and running about almost immediately! If you have rabbits (or any other pet), please take them here as they will be well cared for. Richard and the nurses are extremely compassionate and professional. The care they give to my dogs (Bear and Kiro)cannot be faulted. In 2012 my Staffie Bear was taken ill and they not only cared for him but also supported me. It has been a difficult period for me but we now have a rescue puppy who we immediately registered with Richard and under no circumstances would I consider taking my animals anywhere else. At all times Richard's main concern is the animals welfare and he really fought for Bear. He did everything in his power to heal him but we lost the battle. Richard was as devastated as we were - how can you fault someone who cares that much. I would, and have recommended Goddards as a group in the past but will not hesitate to recommend Richard and his nurses.

I moved to Cranham in 1997 having been happy with a prior branch of Goddards I looked for the closest branch and this was Gidea Park. I always had more than 1 cat and therefore have had my share of cats illnesses, some on going problems and some unfortunately terminal. I have always had complete confidence and trust in the staff at Gidea Park. They always took time to listen to my views when explaining symptoms and concerns and took them on board. They have always been compassionate, understanding and I never had any doubt when I left my cats with them that they were in the best possible hands. Sadly my last cat is no longer with us and we are having some pet free time and focussing on our toddler. However, I still recommend Goddards at Gidea Park and shall return when we decide on our next pet. Keep up the good work.

In addition to the above Goddards offer:

Free monthly check ups up to 6 months and a further one at 9 months.

Puppy classes which are very useful for socislising and learning general care and training tips.

Knowledgable Nurses who genuinely care and love the job they are in.

We had Rosie spayed last week, we got a call to say she had come round, long before the call to say she could go home.
I have taken her in there again today and she pulled me in there !

She was happy to enjoy a fuss from Richard before he checked her over and gave her the all clear for a run in the park.

In summary I think this prctice is superb and have just recommended it to a lady in park who is looking for somewhere to get her Great Dane spayed (good luck with that one Richard !!).

“Fantastic service, happy spaniel. Vet and nurses superb.”

We took our cocker spaniel pup, Willow, in to see Richard at Goddards gidea park, as she needed spaying, and had lumps on her face. We were terrified she had cancers, and feared the worst.
The nurses were friendly and helpful, putting us at our ease and making a fuss of willow.

When we saw Richard, he immediately saw we were worried, and said that such things were common in spaniels, and whilst he wouldn't be taking anything for granted, he wouldn't worry, and neither should we. The way she reacted to him was amazing - we've had her from 6 weeks old, but she won't hold still for us, or be groomed or examined - for richard, she was like putty, allowing him to examine and palpate the lumps with no wriggling or barking.

He took biopsies of the lumps, which turned out to be inconclusive on examination at the lab, and richard advised waiting, in order to save us money, and unnecessary surgery on our dog, he said that if the lumps were malignant, there would be plenty of time to deal with them, and if benign, no need. We were too worried to do this (first time dog owners), so Richard removed the lumps.
He also spayed her at the same time, which he advised so she wouldn't need to be put under twice. When we picked her up, there was no scar - he'd put the stitches on the inside. I didn't even know this was possible. She was up and running about the same day.

We would not take our dog to anyone except Richard now, as the nurses at the practice are friendly and helpful, and obviously love their jobs, and Richard is always happy to help, give advice, and is a fantastic vet.
