It is rare indeed to meet a team of people all of whom are so good at what they do. This is not simply a commercial practice, charging for each and every visit, but a team that carries the welfare of your pet as the guiding principle of their approach and philosophy.
During my many visits, with my little Dachshund, Mickey, who had an eye problem, Gerhard Retief worked hard, patiently and sympathetically, always taking the time to explain carefully the situation to me in an understandable manner.
Following his own instinct Mickey always felt completely safe in his care.
When Mickey was run over I rushed him to the Thorp Surgery where Gerhard and his team simply exploded into action. After a fifteen minute battle to save his life, even Gerhard and his team of three others were unable to save him, such were the extent of his injuries, but my goodness... how they tried.
You may absolutely take my word for it that your pet will be cared for with the very highest level of care. How fortunate I feel to have chosen them in the first place. Gerhard has my permission to give my name to anybody who might wish to take contact with me directly for a personal reference.

I cannot praise everyone at this practice enough. Everyone is extremely friendly and professional. You get the feeling that everyone who works there is a genuine animal lover, which I feel always puts me at ease as a sometimes over anxious owner of 2 dogs and 1 cat.

I have been with Gerhard and Thorpe Vet's for 7/8 years since I have had my two rescue cats, through the years apart from the minor scrapes the cats have got into, Suzi has had a major accident and another time a dislocated leg and Milo has an ongoing eye infection. On all occasions the best treatment has been implemented swiftly and appointments have always been available quickly with clear explanations of the issue/s and treatments being given.
Neither cat are that excited about heading to the vets and Milo imparticular as a rescue kitten was very stressed in the first couple of years, he has become much calmer and easier at the vet's, and one of the reasons I put this change down to is that Gerhard and the team of nurses are very calming and affectionate, which I think both cats have become accustomed to and more trusting of the vets, so that even though a vet visit isn't top of the list of things to do for a cat, the relaxed and warm nature of the staff makes this a much better & friendly environment.
I would and have recommended Thorpe Vets to friends & family.
