“Blackheath Vets - They set a superb standard”

I have known the staff at Blackheath Veterinary surgery for almost three years. This is a marvellous surgery and I cannot speak too highly of it. My cat has a compromised immune system so he is always in need of the expertise of the vets Alan and James. They treat him with a high degree of professionalism, as well as kindness and affection. They will phone to enquire how my cat is progressing, even doing so out of hours. They carefully explain what treatment is proposed so I feel very well informed.
The nursing and reception staff too are a great credit to the surgery. They also show a real interest in their patients, enquiring about the health of my cat every time I go in and professionally liaising with the vets to tell me what is to happen. In an emergency, they make every effort to ensure my cat is seen at the earliest possible time. I feel he is so cared for that I want the same from the NHS for me as a human.
I do not often or lightly rate maximum stars in a review, but Blackheath Vets thoroughly and truly deserve it.

“Very friendly and helpful staff”

The staff were very welcoming and informative. The vet we saw on our first visit; Alan took a great deal of time to explain our pet's condition and what we can expect, how to help and what steps to take next. All the staff we have encountered have been very friendly and keen to advise or inform.
I have already recommended them to a friend who is currently using a different practice.

“Blackheath Vet Surgery - Great”

I recently moved to the area and have visited the surgery a couple of times. This most recent visit was after my cat was attacked by a neighbours dog. Each and every member of the team at the surgery was kind, friendly, professional and left me in no doubt that my cat Alfie was in great hands and would be cared for impeccably. I was given time and clear explanations with genuine care. Nothing but praise and thanks.

“Couldnt ask for more”

We moved into the area and just signed up out of convenience. So happy with everything - the staff are always excellent on the phone and happy to provide help and advice, not always pressuring us to come in and end up with a hefty bill! They've been knowledgeable about everything and always treat our furry ones so well. We would be reluctant to go anywhere else even if we move out of the area!

“A good vet? You bet!”

My JRT and I have been clients of the Blackheath Vet Surgery for seven years now and I can recommend them unreservedly. My dog has had a number of health issues over the years but I have always found the vets, particularly James, very helpful and knowlegable.

“Amazing practice”

I could not fault my practice, we sadly lost 2 dogs this year and had full help from all staff in our sadest time, they looked after us in every way possible, but alsi before this one of our dogs was very ill and our vetstayed with him and looked after him for over 24 hrs. The service we receive from all the staff is fantastic, they have always gone the extra mile for us.

“Blackheath Vets”

I have been with Blackheath Vets for about 5yrs now, I have found the Vets very friendly and helpful. This year has been a very sad year I lost my beloved Red Setter, in February, and in July I lost a beautiful rescue setter Rusty, but now I have a Cocker Spaniel Jasper, and Blackheath Vets will be looking after all his needs with their professional care and attention.

“Lovely, friendly, and convenient. ”

It's nice to have a vet's office that's within walking distance. It's even better when they're as excellent as Blackheath Veterinary Surgery. I have two ferrets, and while they're not the usual pet for the area, they're not uncommon. One of my ferrets has insulinomas, and was treated for this surgically. The vets involved in the surgery, post-operative treatment, and long term care didn't try to oversell what the surgery would do. And they were honest with me about their experience with the surgery, the chances of it being successful, and what further options were available - up to and including specialised surgery with a different vet.

We were told that 3-6 months would be realistic. It's now a week away from the six month mark and my ferret is still doing pretty well. He's got a chronic condition, and there are good days and bad days, but if it weren't for the expertise, the willingness to research (and explain what the options were), and their awareness of the problems that are likely to occur in ferrets, I doubt the outcome would have been nearly as positive as it has been.

The ability to email them with post-surgery concerns was very handy because I could get an answer promptly and they were able to see, through photo or video, the issue with which I was concerned. It also means less disruption for my animal when in recovery. If we ever move from the area, they will be the benchmark by which I judge other veterinary surgeries.

“I am sorry for hissing. ”

I would like to send my apologies for hissing at the staff when I came for my weigh in and to collect my worming tablet a couple of weeks ago. I was a bit shocked to be woken by my mum and taken to the vet on a Sunday. Yes - Open on a Sunday. I've been to the surgery a couple of times now, for kitten check ups and injections and honestly it's the best I've been to (ok, it's the only one I've been to but my mum agrees). The vet respects my dignity as a growing girl and doesn't laugh at me when I'm scared. I'll be back soon for my next weigh in and worming and then it will be time to get spayed and microchipped. This doesn't sound very exciting to me and makes my toes feel funny however if the vet lets me play on the side with all the exciting things to sniff again, I will cope.
Sorry again, Prim the kitten (age 4 and a half months)

“Very pleasant experience ...”

I had little knowledge of regularity of vaccinations and regular health care as my dog was the only dog I have had and he had always be in fab health. Vaccinations were way overdue so I arranged, via recommendation, a full health check to bring him all up to date and have him checked out.

The vet was very knowledgeable, kind, professional and put both Bailey and I at ease.

Couldn't top it for service and peace of mind, am confident in the service and will continue my beloved Bailey's healthcare with Blackheath Vets.

The fact that my dogs insist on going in to the surgery to say hello every time we pass really says it all! Can't recommend the surgery highly enough.

“So good, we travelled from North London. ”

We have been clients of Blackheath Veterinary Surgery since Alan took over from Mr & Mrs Adderley. When we got our 2 cats almost 20 years ago, we used to live in Woolwich, but when our cats were only 3 years old, we moved to North London. Not knowing anyone to recommend a new vet and loving Mr & Mrs Adderley, we did not change vets. A few years later, Alan took over and we still stayed put. We could see from just one appointment that he is an honest, caring and respectful man, who thinks outside the box to do what ever he can for you and your pet. Over the years, we have watched him work so hard to build the practice into what it is today. James joining has added another dimension to the practice and Alan and James compliment each other very well. Sadly, our two cats passed away in October 2013 and July 2014, aged 18 and 19. They would not have made it to these ages without the fantastic care from Alan and James, especially as our 19 year old cat was born with brain damage. When the time came to say goodbye to our beloved cats, Alan and James gave them the peaceful, dignified and respectful passings that they both deserved. I now live in Hertfordshire, but if I ever have another pet, there is no one else I would go to, despite the journey. Thank you to all the staff at Blackheath Veterinary Surgery :o)
