“Fantastic vet”

I have been using Streatham Hill vets for more than 20 years and they are consistently excellent. They really care about animals and their owners and offer great advice and treatment. I cant recommend them highly enough- a joy to deal with.

We visited most recently when we found a stray cat, Zody, and were sympathetically dealt with when he turned out to be chipped though in fact no one has come forward and he is ours now.

Booking an appointment has never been a bother and we are usually seen on time. The pricing for treatment seems very fair especially as all the staff are very helpful, friendly and knowledgable. This has been our veterinary practice for more years than I can remember. They have seen us through numerous cats and now look after our two cocker spaniels with the best care possible. I saw a dog run over a few years ago and several people stopped to help as the owner was nowhere to be seen. A very kind man in a van rang around a couple of vets to see if they could help. When he phoned Streatham Hill Vets on my suggestion, they did not hesitate and told the guy, with no hesitation, to bring the dog straight in, in spite of having no obvious owner, and not much hope if getting paid! This is an amazing practice and I would never take my animals anywhere else !

The veterinarians and staff at Streatham Hill vet surgery are kind and courteous and know my animals by name. It is refreshing to have a small local business (within walking distance of our home) that is able to provide a top quality service to our two cats. I trust them to not only quickly and effectively handle any matters that I have raised with them, but they have no difficulty calling me throughout the day to provide updates. The seven day a week service is incredibly useful as is the out of hours emergency service connected to this practice. I could not recommend them enough. I look forward to seeing the newly renovated property!

“I trust them completely”

I took my cat, Freddy, to the Streatham Hill Vets recently. We had to wait quite a while (we weren't approached by a vet for at least 20 minutes after we had appointed, and we had arrived on time) and even then, there were no rooms available so the vet asked to examine Freddy without us. We explained to her what Freddy's ailments were, and the vet took her crate round the back.

I did feel a little perturbed by that as 1, we've never been to this vet before, 2, we've never taken Freddy to any vets before (not sure her temperament/stress levels with vets) and 3, as much as we were there for a particular problem, I did want to talk to a vet in the privacy of a consulting room, just so I could ask if anything else I'd noticed about Freddy's behaviour was normal, etc.

In defence of the practice, I'm sure if I'd insisted on a consulting room they would have politely agreed to wait for the next one, (although that would have made our wait even longer.) I'm putting a lot of this down to them having building work done (I think this has finished now) but perhaps that is why I felt the waiting room was a bit 'temporary' feeling, and why there were no consulting rooms available for so long.

The vet was absolutely lovely though; she explained all her findings to us when she returned to the waiting room. She gave us some great feedback and was super friendly. The medicine she prescribed for Freddy which has since worked a treat. Myself (and my partner) both agreed that this is definitely a good vets practice that we trust, and will return to :)

Streatham Hill Veterinary Surgery

Thank you for taking time to send us your review. Whilst the building work has being going on we have had to work from limited consulting rooms which has had an affect on the daily running of the surgery. We have tried to keep the disruption to a minimum, but unfortunately it has been unavoidable on occasion. We have been keeping all of our clients informed of our regular progress. We really appreciate all of our clients patience and understanding at this time, and we are happy to say that we are coming to an end with our extension and renovations, and cannot wait for everyone to enjoy our lovely new reception, office, consulting rooms and cat ward.

I have used the Practice more so over the last 7 months when Tiffi my 13.6 year old old Maine Coon suddenly became very poorly. The care, patience and support given by all staff was overwhelming and it has continued to this day as her treatment is on-going. My other cat Buttie, Tiffi's sister is also now poorly and the same dedication, support and care is upheld. An excellent Practice who have some quite remarkable staff who genuinely care for all animals. This along with the latest technology and recent refurbishment makes Streatham Hill Vets THE BEST VETERINARY Practice, in my opinion, in South London. We didn't have a car when we bought our now 13 month old pup last year so proximity to the vets was essential. We were very happy with our first visit as the vet made sure that our puppy was soon put at ease. Another positive was that they hold puppy socialisation classes which our dog loved so it's never a struggle getting him into the vets, he practically pulls to go in and meet the other patients!

All our dogs ailments have been dealt with professionally and successfully. If I have any criticism at all it is the amount of expensive medication that goes on the bill. Following one visit to check out his sickness I was asked to purchase a few days worth of dog food totalling £40 - hence a lower score for value for money.

However, all in all it's a wonderful vets. The staff are very friendly and you really do leave feeling like they genuinely care for your pet.

Each time I have been able to make an appointment quickly and have been welcomed by warm, friendly and genuinely concerned staff throughout the practice. Most recently, my dog Jasper was attacked by another dog and needed emergency care and the mix of compassion and professionalism was enormously reassuring to a devastated pet owner. Jasper is making an excellent recovery due to their care and support and I wish that every pet was lucky enough to have them nearby in times of need. Wonderful people!

Outstanding - Caring - Informative and up-to-date.
I haven't changed vets for 20 years because my cats love them;
Faye my cat has Chronic Renal Failure - she loves all the nurses and vets who in turn love her back. They all take great interest in her progress and quality of life. They have given Faye the second chance at life that no other specialist or practice could have - whilst keeping prices reasonable and her quality of life is amazing due to the right care and treatment. Right now Faye is sunbathing in her garden loving every minute of her life - because of everyone at Streatham Hill Vets
I cant thank them enough and would highly recommend them to anyone.
Thanks guys - we are forever in your debt:)
Love Faye, Bear and Liz xx

“Lovely staff who love animals”

I have been using this vet practice for many years and they have always been fantastic with my animals.
My current 2 are Wally, a cat and Algie, a dog.
Wally is an old boy now and so visits the vet quite a lot.
Algie has itchy skin so goes quite frequently.
All the staff love my boys and no question is too silly.
They show empathy and compassion with us humans, too.
Wally and my old cat, Penny have both been hospitalised there and visits to see them showed how much the staff care behind the scenes as well as front of house.

At Streatham Hill Vets, staff are friendly, patient and are always willing to answer questions. Having not owned cats before, they were happy to give advice and explain things in a way that is easy to understand. Although sometimes they get very busy and the waiting times can be quite long, I would definitely recommend them to other pet-owners.

“Warm caring professional practice”

Being a first time dog owner I was nervous about choosing the right vet for my puppy. All the staff at SHV have been empathetic, friendly and professional. The vets I have seen for the free puppy checks, castration and tummy upsets have all been great with Jacquesson. The nurses are very special too, being ready with a pat and a treat at the end of each visit.
All the staff stop and stroke the dog in the waiting room which is lovely.
The mark up on flea treatment was a little steep but to their credit when I asked for a prescription so I could order the advocate cheaper online they readily agreed.
I have already recommended them to my friend and will continue to do so as Jacquesson and I think they are wonderful.

The lady on reception was REALLY lovely; talkative, friendly and helpful.
My only concern was we had to wait for half an hour and on the board it said there were three vets on although it seemed there were only two. The vet we saw did apologise for the wait.

I have been taking my pets to the practise for well over 30 years and totally trust their knowledge and expertise. I have never had cause, on any occasion, to make a complaint, hence 5 out of 5 against all of the star ratings.
All of the staff, from the reception to the nurses and vets are friendly and cheerful and have always made a fuss over all of my pets.

“Nervous as a Kitten!”

I hadn't been a pet owner for many years but when my grown up son moved to the States I thought I'd console myself by getting a lovely little kitten! So... back into the world of kitty litter, 'What's the best cat food?' and entertaining a playful, energetic young feline . We also had to choose a vet and bring him for his first vaccinations. So lucky that Streatham Hill Vets is just a short drive away because I think I was just as scared as Thomas my kitten when we put him into his box for the journey and listened to him meowing nervously, I felt so sorry for him! But the friendly smile and welcome of the receptionist plus the professionalism of the nice young vet really bolstered my confidence that Thomas would get the best of care, which he did. See you for the next vaccination Streatham Hill Vets! Thomas sends a paw print :)

“Friendly and professional veterinary surgery”

We recently rescued a 3 year old greyhound, Fly, and knowing nothing about her background, we weren't sure what to expect medically. As we had to get a few things done (vaccination, microchip and spay), I called up a few vets, and Streatham Hill vets had the best prices and best telephone advice (accurate prices, recovery advice). I put quite a bit of research into finding a reputable, professional surgery to look after Fly's health and Streatham Hill came out on top. There were also some really useful vouchers on the surgery website.

The practice itself is really nice and clean. They had plenty of appointments to suit people who work "9-5" weekdays, so it was easy to schedule Fly's visits around my day.I enjoyed reading about all the updates that were happening on the reception wall. The reception staff, nurses and vets were all really friendly and knowledgable. Fly was looked after so well and the whole experience didn't seem to phase her at all. Every time we visit, the staff seem genuinely happy to see Fly, and she loves the attention and treats they lavish on her.

I've already recommended this vets to some new greyhound owner friends of mine and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the same to anyone with a pet they love!

“Amazing!”

Up until a few months ago my Cavalier King Charles, Chili, was a pretty healthy little dog. No major incidents. Then in April she was playing ball and slipped in the wet grass and it was all downhill. Streatham Hill Vets were amazing, didn't give up until they had figured out exactly where the problem was. Three x-rays later, a trip to Stone Lion vets in Wimbledon for three MRI's, and much prodding and investigating followed till the MRI showed a bulging disc in the lower back. Due to the fact that Cavaliers are prone to SM, the next MRI also showed that she had mild SM and also fluid in the ear canal. I would never have know any of this if it hadn't been for Piya, a wonderful vet at Streatham Hill insisting that although it was her lower back there might be other problems due to her scratching etc and to get the MRI. So the fall in the park although painful was actually lucky as Chili is now on medicine for the SM and she has had the fluid removed from the ears and is scratching less. While her immune system was down, she caught a tummy bug, then an eye infection, a mouth infection and many other issues since. She was on a drip for five days at the vets and Piya and all the nurses were amazing, checking on her 24/7 and making sure she was comfortable. Even Claire and Jane on reception were brilliant, calling me with updates and sorting out all my insurance claims which were confusing as there were so many new claims. Every member of staff is polite, patient and caring. She goes for K-laser once a week and loves seeing all the nurses who give her the 'doggie heat massage' for 3 minutes while she eats as many treats as possible! She used to hate going to her old vets but when she goes to Streatham Hill vets she can't wait to get in there and see all her mates. Im my mind, it's the BEST vets in London!."
