I felt compelled to write a review of our vets as I have been so impressed by them I wanted others to know. We had a rescue cat that throughout his short life had many ailments. Everytime we used the vets we were met with professionalism and kindness. Our cat had to eventually be put to sleep, the receptionist gave us tissues and told us to settle our bill another time. The vet was so compassionate and even sent a sympathy card a few days later. It will be a long while before we consider getting another pet but if/when we do we will use Avenue vets without hesitation. All the staff there from reception, veterinary nurses and vets are outstanding.

My Dog's nail was hanging off after a brief run in the park. I immediately called Avenue Veterinary Centre and requested an appointment. There was none until later that morning but when I explained the situation they told me to go straight there and they saw to her immediately. Professional, quick and very caring from the Receptionist, Nurse and Vet - well done!! Four days later my Dog is now ready to start chasing her ball again so paws up from her!! Thank you!

We have been coming to the Avenue Veterinary Centre for the past 37 years and, although we have seen the practice change during this time (change of name and different vets), one thing still remains the same, the practice's commitment to the loving professional care given to our pets. We visited the practice with cats in the earlier years but, since the early 80's we have taken dogs too!! Over the last few years we have been seeing Olivia Hinitt (since Mrs Sterry's retirement), she is absolutely wonderful and we now see her as our usual vet, more often than not. At the moment Olivia is taking care of our elderly dog Zoe (who doesn't warm to people easily), she has a condition which needs monitoring but, since her last visit, Zoe seems back to being more her old self! So, thank you Olivia. Most have been happy visits but inevitably there have been sad ones, like recently. Our beloved cat Purdy was diagnosed with lymphoma, things happened very quickly in the end and we had to take Purdy to AVC when we were seen by Sophie Hemming, unfortunately the inevitable did happen. Sophie too is wonderful. Both Olivia and Sophie, from particular experience, have a lovely compassionate and professional manner at all times (especially when I couldn't control my crying!!) and are a credit to AVC. We have seen most of the vets at AVC at one time or another and the same can be said for them all! Hilary Tolputt is also lovely and is a long standing vet at the practice with many years of experience, as does Mark Picton, who we remember when he first joined the practice, he is now the owner! We cannot forget to praise the nursing staff and receptionists (some of whom we have also known for many years) who are also very kind, caring and helpful. AVC obviously have a very good team who work well together and therefore the practice has more of a family feel. Whether our pets have had to undergo surgery, tests or check-ups, we can rest assured that they will receive the best care possible and are in good hands. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Avenue Veterinary Centre for their professionalism and caring manner. They certainly live up to the claims of their Mission Statement. Bruce our black Labrador clearly wasn't well and not himself, not eating and more importantly not drinking for about 24-36hrs. I made one phone call to the practice to discuss his symptoms, and less than 25 minutes later (after a 15 min drive) he was in a consultation room. It was suggested (which I fully agreed with) that he should stay in overnight for necessary care and medication and a good indication of costs were given. Bruce stayed in for one and half days in the end and we received constant updates on his condition. I'm happy to report he is now back to his normal self thanks to the care and respect given. Costs slightly over that predicted (due to costs of drugs not staff or overstay), but worth every penny and pound. Thank you.
