This is a long review, so my apologies, but I just wanted to make it extremely clear how brilliant this practice is! My 7 year old cat, Archimedes, has been treated at Medivet South Harrow for well over a year now. Every time I visit, all the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and bend over backwards to help you however they can. And Nicola Wong is the best veterinary surgeon I have ever come across, no contest. She is unfalteringly cheerful, smiley, and friendly. I got married this year and she was genuinely so interested to hear all about our plans, and when I came back in the next time she straight away remembered that we had said we were getting married and excitedly asked me how it went! She genuinely cares about people (and pets of course). I am fortunate that Archimedes is mostly in excellent health, although there have been a couple of times in the last 12 months I have had to take him in. Firstly, he needed to go under a general anesthetic to have his teeth cleaned, and they took excellent care of him - there were no problems at all. I have been meaning to write a review for a while for this practice but the reason I am making a point of getting around to it today is because Archimedes has just come home from a bronchoscopy and I have been bowled over by how well he has been treated by them. I took him in 2 days ago because he had been sneezing/snorting a few times a day for several weeks. In all other respects he was totally fine but I wanted to get it checked. Nicola said she thought it was probably allergies, but when he sneezed all over her mousepad (sorry Nicola!), she took a sample and had a look in her lab. She invited me back to have a look, and explained what we were seeing through the microscope (it was very interesting!). She explained that the problem was likely one of two things, but we needed to know which, as the treatments were very different. She also told me, in detail, what the diagnostic tests would involved. We booked him in for two days later, and she provided me with an estimate of the costs, as well as giving me a heads up that my insurer may quibble about paying as they may argue it was somehow related to a previous case of asthma. After his tests today, Nicola called me immediately after they had been done and talked me through everything in detail - they'd put the camera up, seen some redness, and taken some samples. Then, for completeness, they had put the camera up through the back of the nose via the mouth - and lo and behold, there was a giant blade of grass wedged in the back of his nose, that would have been the cause of most if not all of the sneezing! She told me she'd removed it, and that he was doing fine, and we arranged a time for me to come pick him up this afternoon. When I came in, she told me all about the procedure and what had happened, even showing me pictures she had taken during the process (the view through the camera, so I could see the redness in his nose), and she also had also kept the grass blade in a little specimen jar so I could see it! I find this stuff really fascinating and so I really appreciate her taking the time and effort to explain everything to me. As well as all this, she told me that the insurance company shouldn't now have any grounds to argue with covering the costs (a stuck blade of grass is clearly not a pre-existing condition!), and that if they quibbled then the practice would argue my case for me! She gave me some antibiotics/painkillers and aftercare instructions for Archimedes, and we booked a followup appointment for two days' time. I was instructed to remove a bandage on his leg an hour later, and when I got home and went to do so I realised that the IV needle had been left in. I called up the practice and Nicola was absolutely brilliant - she apologised profusely and, as I don't have my own transport and live relatively nearby, she arranged to come to my house after she finished work to remove it (yes, really!!!). I can't emphasise enough how excellent this practice is, and especially Nicola. As well as all this, I seem to be able to get an appointment the same day pretty much whenever I call, which is super for someone as disorganised as me! The only problem with Medivet South Harrow is that after today I have realised that my cat gets far better healthcare than I do... Nicola, can you please train as a GP so you can look after me, too?!

Just here to add my two cents: as others have said, the care provided by Nicola and team is truly second to none. Rabbits are often overlooked and misunderstood even by many accomplished vets so upon getting ours last year, we were very uncertain on the quality of care Medivet could provide. Turns out we hit jackpot with our choice - since day one, our rabbit has been treated with utmost care, compassion and love. Even the dreaded neutering process was a virtual breeze thanks to Nicola's brilliant attitude, patience (thoroughly answering all my frantic newbie questions!) and skill. Though we very luckily only live a few minutes away, we would very well be willing to commute miles just to come here!

Nicola and any other vets and nurses I have had care for my pets have been extremely compassionate and caring for my animals. My family realise how professional they are too and give superb care at a reasonable price.I recommend the The Medivet Healthcare Plan which really help spread the costs of keeping my pets healthy; with hindsight would have taken out the insurance but relieved I got 10% off treatment when I had a couple of emergencies. I received superb updates when my cat was hospitalised and strokes and affection are included for your pet care too! I really love my pets and if they had a choice they would choose here as they are sensitively cared for. My only complaint is that they don't treat humans here too!

Nicola and her team are the friendliest around! They were very compassionate when treating Hopkin for his cancer, and continue to care regularly for his surviving brother, Booboo. I can't recommend them enough. From small furries to large dogs, Medivet South Harrow is the place to go!
